Spritelane

Make your game in the open.

Spritelane is a devlog community for indie game developers. Post your progress as you build, where it won’t get buried, in front of players who actually want to follow games early.

Why post here

Built for the people making the game.

  • Your posts don't scroll away

Every game gets a lane: one page that keeps its whole history in order. Link it from your store page, your socials, your press kit. It's the record of how the game got made.

  • You're not next to slop

Every developer here was checked by a person. Players browsing Spritelane know that, so they give your game the attention they'd never give an open feed.

  • Feedback you can use

There are no like counts. You mark the comments that helped, and those rise. The culture is “the jump feels floaty after the first bounce”, not “nice”.

  • Players who follow early

People who follow a game from its grey boxes are the ones who wishlist, playtest, and tell their friends on launch day. This is where you find them.

  • A mark for your store page

Keep a lane going and your game can earn the Spritelane mark, a stamp that says a human looked at how it was made. Take it to Steam and itch.

  • No algorithm to feed

Followers see your posts in order, every time. You don't have to post at the right hour or chase a trend to be seen by people who asked to see you.

What goes in a lane

Anything that shows the game changing.

Short is fine. Rough is better. A lane with ten small posts beats one perfect announcement.

  • A GIF of the thing you changed this week, and why
  • Grey boxes and blockouts, before anything looks good
  • A system you redesigned, and what was wrong with the first one
  • A feature you cut, and what it cost to cut it
  • Playtest notes: what players did that you didn't expect
  • Your demo, your trailer, your launch, on top of everything above

Applying

What we check.

We’re not judging polish, genre or engine. We want to know there’s a real game and a real person making it. A greybox and a few screenshots is enough to apply.

How the mark works
A person behind the account
We look at your itch page, Steam page, repo or portfolio. Studios and solo devs alike, as long as someone real is answering.
A lane with some length
Several devlogs, spread over weeks, showing the game change. Grey boxes count. Rough is the point.
Read by a moderator
No classifier hands out the mark. A human reviews the lane and can take the mark back.
